The Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) applauds the Federal Aviation Association and the Department of Transportation for unveiling their plan for a modernized air traffic control system today.
AUVSI is a proud member of the Modern Skies Coalition, a group of more than 50 wide-ranging aviation and aerospace industry organizations, which is highlighting the urgent need across the U.S. to hire and retain more air traffic controllers, upgrade FAA technology and infrastructure, and further modernize our National Airspace System (NAS) in a way that ensures an equitable and safe airspace for all. AUVSI urges Congress to act swiftly in response to Secretary Duffy’s modernization plan by leveraging the budget reconciliation process and standalone legislation, and by implementing key outstanding mandates from the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024.
AUVSI CEO Michael Robbins said, “AUVSI applauds Secretary Duffy and Administrator Rocheleau for their tremendous leadership. Their plan is an important step forward in enhancing aviation safety, modernizing the National Airspace System, and ensuring that drones, advanced air mobility aircraft, and autonomous systems are further integrated into the airspace.”
