Rep. Ron Barber (D-Ariz.) announced Wednesday that the U.S. Department of Defense awarded $36.5 million to Northrop Grumman to train U.S. Army soldiers to operate the Hunter unmanned air system at Fort Huachuca. The contract runs through fiscal year 2013. The 2nd Battalion, 14th Aviation Regiment at Fort Huachuca has already graduated more than 10,000 unmanned aircraft pilots.
"Fort Huachuca has an excellent record of training soldiers who operate unmanned aircraft and I applaud the U.S. Army's continued support of that effort," Barber told the Sierra Vista Herald.
