Predator B Completes Missile Tracking Test
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. announced on Monday that it has performed a successful missile tracking test using its Predator B. Using two Predator Bs, endowed with Raytheon Multispectral Targeting Systems-B (MTS-B) electro-optical/infrared turrets, the Predators successfully monitored and followed a ballistic missile back in late June as a part of the Pacific Dragon exercise offshore Hawaii.
“The test provided valuable data in our ongoing effort to develop an effective airborne missile defense capability,” said CEO of General Atomics Linden Blue, through a press release published on Monday.
Partnering with the Missile Defense Agency, General Atomics successfully completed the test in Kauai, Hawaii, as a part of the trilateral Ballistic Missile Defense event. The event brings together the U.S. Navy, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and Republic of Korea navy for exercises dealing with ballistic targets and the intricacies that go with monitoring and reporting on them.
