ASV Global Preparing to Make 6 USVs
ASV Global is preparing to build six new USVs for underwater engineering organization SeaTrepid DeepSea. The USVs, along with several autonomous underwater vehicles, will conduct surveys for SeaTrepid DeepSea.
The new SeaWorkers, will be developed from ASV’s C-Worker base system. The added technology to the C-Worker will include an acoustic underwater positioning system to track the positioning of AUVs in the water. This new way of tracking AUVs is expected to save a lot of money compared to having a manned system do the tracking, according to the company.
“We are delighted to be supplying six new USVs into this ground-breaking project,” said ASV Global Managing Director Dan Hook. “The SeaWorkers have been designed specifically as a ruggedized workboat, capable of carrying large payloads and handling varying weather conditions and water depths. The ASView Control System will allow for the reliable and safe operation of the six vehicles.”
“The USVs are a vital piece of the Multiple Autonomous Vehicle Program, allowing for tracking and communication between the AUVs and Host Surface Vessel,” says SeaTrepid DeepSea Commercial Manager Jake Klara. “Having a quality USV developed by the leading manufacturer was essential for us to produce successful results to our clients.”
The SeaWorkers will be developed in the United Kingdom at ASV’s production facility. After trial testing, they will be shipped to SeaTrepid DeepSea’s Louisiana base.
