AUVSI Statement on China’s Rare Earth Export Restrictions

Reports that the People’s Republic of China (PRC) has halted exports to the United States of critical materials and magnets should not come as a surprise. Time and time again, the PRC has sought to use economic statecraft to undercut U.S. industry and competitiveness. From the dumping of subsidized drones and robotics into the U.S. market, to targeted sanctions on key U.S. defense companies, the PRC has consistently leveraged its economic tools to disadvantage American firms in favor of its own.

AURA Network Systems Announces Publication of RTCA DO-406

Standards Development Organization Establishes UHF Radio Performance Standards for UAS Command and Control McLean, Va. (October 3, 2024) – AURA Network Systems today announced the publication of RTCA DO-406, a new document outlining the Minimum Operational Performance Standards for UHF Airborne Radio Systems Supporting UAS C2 Link Systems. The document was developed with the leadership of AURA’s technical experts working with the RTCA Special Committee (SC-228), which is responsible for developing standards to support large UAS operations. The publication of standards for a dedicated UHF C2 Link System marks a significant advancement in aviation communications.

FAA reauthorization adds power to UND’s UAS programs

The recent reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration means full speed ahead for uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) and advanced and urban air-mobility research (AAM/UAM) at UND. It also means more opportunities for UAS graduates as well as free training for first responders on UAS operations.

AUVSI Formalizes Ground Advocacy Committee, Elects Inaugural Leadership

AUVSI’s ground domain Working Group recently formalized as an Advocacy Committee, approving bylaws and hosting its first leadership elections. Going forward, the Ground Advocacy Committee (GAC) will set AUVSI’s legislative and regulatory priorities in the ground domain.
