CAE Releases New Simulator
By Danielle Lucey
Montreal, Canada, company CAE has released a simulator training system for unmanned aerial systems, called the UAS Mission Trainer.
The product will combine pilots, sensor operators and mission commander input in an open-architecture platform, so it can be tailored to simulate different UAS.
“The completely immersive synthetic environment provides capabilities for training as well as mission planning and mission rehearsal,” said the company in a press release.
The systems’ features include a STANAG 4586-compliant ground control station, high-fidelity simulation software for different sensors, software for generating training scenarios, an image simulator, weather simulator and a computer-generated tactical environment.
“By addressing the often difficult integration issues and basing our product on an open architecture and COTS [commercial off the shelf] software, we have developed a cost-effective, low-risk UAS Mission Trainer that will help customers train and prepare their UAS mission crews,” says Gene Colabatistto, CAE’s group president of its Military Products, Training and Services division.
