LifeBot Leverages Military Tech for Telemedicine Package

LifeBot LLC of Phoenix has announced a new telemedicine package that includes a communications package and patient monitoring system to allow doctors to examine patients remotely in emergency situations.
The new LifeBot 5 is based on the DREAM technology (disaster relief and emergency medical service) that was originally developed under $14 million in grants from the Department of Defense’s Telemedicine and Technology Research Center and U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command.
That system has been tested over the past six years on five ambulances in Liberty County, Texas. LifeBot acquired the exclusive worldwide license for the DREAM technology.
The system can use 4G, 3G, LTE, WiMax, cellular, Wi-Fi, satellite and data radio connections, automatically picking what works best, allowing for communications “even in very low-bandwidth situations,” the company says.
“The new LifeBot 5 promises to revolutionize the way remote care is delivered and reduce both the risks and costs of deploying telemedicine systems in both hospital-to-hospital and hospital-to-ambulance communications,” the company says.
