ViaSat Continues $52 Million Service Contract for Airborne ISR

By Danielle Lucey

ViaSat Inc. announced it has secured a contract to provide broadband airborne satcom services for an unnamed U.S. government costumer. The one-year, $52 million contract is for a renewal of services of ViaSat's ArcLight technology over a managed private network to aid intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. The contract began in 2009 to support military missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The beyond-line-of-sight, high-speed communications network operates between 1 and 8 Mbps on aircraft using Ku- and Ka-band satcom links.
