UNMANNED SYSTEMS DEFENSE PHASE II: GROUND
Today, AUVSI hosted the final day of Phase II of Unmanned Systems Defense, the Association’s signature event connecting private and public stakeholders in the defense segment of the unmanned systems industry.
Throughout the day’s ground domain-focused programming, experts discussed the most recent updates to the National Robotics Roadmap, commercial market trends in autonomy, and the proposed 2022 federal budget for unmanned systems.
During the discussions, experts agreed that collaboration between the public and private sectors will advance integration.

Automated Freight Summit: Day Three
AUVSI today hosted the final day of the first-ever Automated Freight Summit (AFS) with discussions on automated mobility systems and last-mile delivery solutions – all during a critical moment for this sector. With technology advancing, a large federal infrastructure spending package anticipated, and localities seeking recovery from the fluctuations on transportation demands during the height of the COVID-19 situation, Mark de la Vergne from Cavnue urged attendees to think about how this is an important moment to consider what we want our collective mobility future to look like.

Automated Freight Summit: Day Two
AUVSI today hosted Day Two of the first-ever Automated Freight Summit (AFS). Throughout panel discussions on, “Public Safety Stakeholder Interactions with Automated Freight,” “Truck Operators of the Future,” “What Does Safety Mean for Automated Trucks?” and “Societal Impacts of Automated Freight,” all panelists returned to the most important topic at hand: safety.
Captain Arnold Hardy of the California Highway Patrol summed up the day succinctly by saying, “It’s all about safety,” and Dan Goff of Kodiak Robotics echoed the sentiment when he asserted that, “Safety is really the core technology we are all building on the development side.”
